Distance Learning Mechanical Engineering Degree
Mechanical engineering is one of the most lucrative career choices and provides plenty of job chances in all area of work. Various companies in the areas of defense, transport, health, design, manufacturing, entertainment, building and research recruit individuals with profound knowledge in this segment of engineering. Distance Learning Mechanical Engineering Degrees are available with some Universities.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering – Engineering Mechanics (ME-EM) at Michigan Tech provides a Master of Science coursework degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics by Distance Learning. The Signature Program is a flexible degree program that permits scholars to take a portion of the course work from other universities or colleges.
Scholars applying to the Signature program must have a BS degree in engineering or a allied area, have a cumulative GPA greater than 3.0 (4.0 scale), and be willing to commit 2 to 3 years to finish the program. An encouraged but optional registration and advising time period takes place yearly in August at Michigan Tech.
Method of delivery
MTU distance learning courses are presently provided via video streaming. The course lectures are taped as they are instructed on campus and are posted to the course website with accompanying materials.
Program Requirements for the MSME
Scholars enrolled in the Signature Program must earn a min of 30 credits as follows:
A min of 18 credits of 5000 or 6000 level course work
A maximum of 12 credits of 4000 level course work
MSME: 3 credits of sanctioned mathematics course work
MSEM: six credits of sanctioned mathematics course work
Credits from other institutions may be transferable after approval from the Michigan Tech faculty advisor and the ME-EM department. Scholars may download up to one-third of their credits to fulfill their degree requirements.
