Dr. D. Y. Patil Sports Academy is established in 1983. The D. Y. Patil Group is a privately-held group of educational, sports and healthcare institutions. DYPSA is devoted to research, development and education in a kind of sports, with the object of making a centre of excellence that will put India on the world-wide stage of competitive sport. The Sports Academy encourages the interaction of players among nations; teams from India have been sponsored for tournaments in the UK, and visiting teams have been hosted at DYPSA here in India. In addition to the Academy, DYPSA possesses 2 corporate cricket teams and one club cricket team. The Academy leads coaching camps for over 200 budding cricketers every year.
