The Shillong Campus of the EFL University was founded in 1973 to satisfy the demands of the North-East region. The foundation stone for the permanent complex of the Campus at Shillong was placed by Shri P. R. Kyndiah, Tribal Affairs Minister, Govt. of India, on 20 September, 2006. Surrounded by lovely lush green countryside, Shillong is a land of lakes and waterfalls, and hills and peaks. The wettest place on earth, Chirrapunchi, is only 56 kms away.
The strategic geographic position of the Centre, the perfect setting, ethnographical elements and the primacy of English in the part for educational and career possibilities make the EFL University North-East Campus an ideal academic destination. In addition to the regular programmes, the Centre provides many teacher training plans to strengthen the teaching of English and foreign languages in the Northeastern area. The Centre has prepared more than 3000 persons in English and foreign languages.
