The EMRI Tamilnadu (Tamil Nadu unit of Emergency Management and Research Institute) has finished mapping of hospitals in State of Tamilnadu, which will assist them take patients to the right hospital at the earliest in hours of emergencies.

Emergency Management Research Institute offer free emergency help to people across the state by an integrated dialing code 108. The documentation of data took from the experience in controlling as many as 385 ambulances in Tamilnadu State is now being replicated in 9 other States in India.

All existing emergency facility numbers in the state will eventually be integrated with the 108 service, which will offer an ambulance within twenty minutes of a call.

It has also offered 198 ambulances at a cost of Rs.170 million, each prepared with a trained paramedic and driver. They are connected to the EMRI call centre where a doctor guides patient-care until he/she reaches hospital.
