The PgDip/MSc in Environmental Management is part-time and provided through distance learning. It is recognized through the Institution of Environmental Sciences (http://www.ies-uk.org.uk)
Environmental management technics are integral to conservation, agriculture, forestry, industry and countryside planning. This online course is planned for new graduates who lack professional experience in environment management and people already in environment-allied employment, who wish to grow their careers through updating their knowledge and abilities. It objectives to satisfy an industrial and public sector need for science-eligible environmental management personnel.
Specific Objectives
The principles and practice of Environmental Management are covered, with unique aims being to:
Understand the value of an evidence-based approach in growing management strategies.
Apply quantitative technics to assess the effects of environmental management.
Produce environmental impact statements and advise on implementing environmental management systems.
Apply structured planning principles to site biodiversity management and ecosystem restoration.
Monitor pollution and assess its environmental effects.
The course objectives to set environmental management tools in the context of an understanding of ecosystem structure/function and legislative/policy frame works.
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)
Entry Requirements: Appliers must hold a degree with at least 2ii Honours standard or equal or demonstrate ability to undertake the course by the accreditation of prior experiential learning.
Course Fees: £3582 spread over 3 years (EU students)
