In 1980, GITAM University (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management) was launched through an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh led through Dr. M.V.V.S.Murthi. It is certified as a society under the Societies certification Act XXXI of 1860 and in August 2007, it accredited through the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. GITAM University main campus is located at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh state in India.
