Introduction
An Act 1964 to found the Industrial Development Bank of India 1[as the principal financial institution for co-coordinating, in conformity with national priorities, the functioning of institutions engaged in financing, encouraging or growing industry, for assisting the growth of such institutions] for offering credit and other facilities for the growth of industry and for matters connected therewith and further to amend certain enactments.
The IDBI commonly famous through its acronym is Industrial Development Bank of India limited one of India’s guiding public sector banks and 4th biggest Bank in overall ratings. It was founded in the year of 1964 through an Act of Parliament to offer credit and other facilities for the growth of the fledgling Indian industry.
