World War II was responsible for speedy growths. The thought of having a homogeneous corps by amalgamating IMS, IMD gradually took shape and Indian Army Medical Corps (IAMC) came into existence on 03 Apr 1943. On the establishment of the IAMC, the IHC HQs at Poona became the Administrative central office of the IAMC in May 1943.After Independence of the nation, the Corps has made a steady progress. The men enjoy combatant position. The post of Director General Armed Forces Medical Services was made in 1949 as coordinating head of the med services of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Eligibility
People must possess medical qualification. Post Graduate degree occupants i.e. MD/MS/MCh/DM may also apply. PG Degree in following subjects will be given preference (a) Anesthesia (b) Surgery (c) Obstetrics & Gyenaecology (d) Medicine (e) Orthopedics (f) Respiratory Medicine. The applicant must have permanent enrollment from any State Medical Council/ MCI. People who will be complting internship by 30/09/09 may also apply.
Selection
Eligible people will be addressed for interview by a Board of officers by a Board of Officers in the month of Nov 2009 at Army Hospital (Research & Referral) New Delhi, Near Daula Kuan, and Delhi Cantt.
