Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act 1999
The insurance regulatory and development authority act, 1999.act no. 41 OF 1999.[29th December, 1999] An Act to render for the governance of an Authority to assist the concerns of holders of insurance policies, to determine, promote and assure orderly development of the insurance industry and for subjects related therewith or incidental thereto and promote to improve the Insurance Act, 1938, the Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956 and the General Insurance Business (Nationalization) Act, 1972. BE it passed by Parliament in the 15th Year of the Republic of India.

This Act may be cried the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999. It covers to the whole of India. It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint: furnished that different dates may be appointed for various provisions of this Act and any reference in any such provision to the beginning of this Act shall be interpreted as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.
