University Grants Commission had determined to open new Academic Staff Colleges with sensible financial help in five Universities/Institutions, including Jadavpur University, with result from February 2000.Main targets of so launched Academic Staff College are to provide specially planned Academic Staff Orientation programmes for the fresh nominated lectures and Refresher Courses for helping teachers to keep abreast of the latest advances in several subjects, exchange expressions with their equals and learn reciprocally from each others. Since its origination in 2000, the UGC-ASC, Jadavpur University, has organized eleven (11) Orientation Programmes for college and university teachers, The Academic Staff College of Jadavpur University was instituted in its new building in Salt Lake Campus, Kolkata.
