JEB Diploma in ICT is an IT teaching course guiding to the EDI/JEB Diploma in Education Practice ICT (Information Communication Technology) abilities. The honor is planned primarily for the individual who wishes to pursue a career as a teacher or trainer of ICT abilities.
Aim
To certify that examinees can teach ICT
Section 1 – Theory and Applied Theory
1. Obtaining knowledge of various parts of IT equipment, the range of availability equipment and the role of software.
2. Managing, scheduling and monitoring equipment and software resources
Section 2 – Practical
Practical – Devising quality teaching materials
Demonstrate practical expertise in using information technology hardware with various software packages.
Examinees must:
Demonstrate skill to devise teaching materials for use with several applications:
Train a Case Study,
Prepare 2 assignments from Database, presentation software spreadsheets, graphs and charts, drawing/painting software, specialist software.
Prepare one assignment from Internet, Email, and file management.
Full requirements will be outlined through the teacher when the course begins
Section 3 – Applied Principles of Teaching
(A) Teaching Project & Teaching Practice: examinees are necessitated to train a teaching project and to teach a lesson from this project.
Identify individual learning needs
Prepare a scheme of work for a course lasting a min of 20 hours
Manage the learning environment
Devise learning strategies and activities
Prepare and choose learning resources
Assess scholar performance
Plan lessons with supporting materials, present and evaluate lesson and material
Demonstrate and facilitate skill development
(B) Taught Lesson: To teach a lesson lasting 2 hours from its teaching project to a suitable group of scholars.
Section 4 – Principles of Teaching and Training
In-depth study of the major themes in education and educational psychology guiding to a final exam. If students contain the H. Dip. Ed. (or equal) students will be automatically exempt from this section.
Course Options
Option 1 – Every Tuesday evening from 7 – 10 pm (Mar 2010 to July 2010)
Option 2 – Every 3rd Saturday from 10 – 3 pm (Mar 2010 to Nov 2010)
Entry Requirements for JEB Diploma in ICT
Leaving Certificate or equal and/or work experience,
Examinees must have basic knowledge of some of the following computer application; word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, databases, DTP or other,
Examinees who already contain a teaching qualification are automatically imparted exemption from the Principles of Teaching and Training module. If the teaching qualification was granted before 1998, the examinee is necessitated to produce evidence of up-to-date teaching experience of ten hours or more per week.
Course Fee
The fee for the JEB Diploma in ICT course is Euro €1100
This fee does not admit the exam fee of STG£165 (approx Euro €190) (Euro €130 if you contain the H. Dip Ed. or equal).
