The Kerala Agricultural University is one of the prime institutes and the only University in Kerala accused with the responsibilities for teaching, research, and extension education in Agriculture and confederate sectors in the State. There are more than two thousand under-graduate and six hundred post-graduate students in the University. The Bioinformatics Centre at KAU, Thrissur was launch in 1995 as one of the spread Information Sub Centre (DISC) under the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet) programme of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
