The Milk supply Schemes were being function by Animal Husbandry Department of Himachal Pradesh since 1967 and the Department had been furnishing food market to the Milk Producers’ occupying in distant and widespread domain of the State. H.P. Milkfed was registered in 1980. But it commenced its procedure on 2nd October, 1983 with the transfer of Dairy Development Activities to it by the Govt. in the dominion of Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Sirmour, Solan and part of Shimla Districts. Una district was subsequently transferred to the Federation on 1st May, 1988.
Himachal Pradesh Milkfed determined to diversify into the sweetmeat business last year; various doubts were evoked over the issue. Managing Director of the state Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation J.R. Katwal said this year, the target is to construct and market a thousand quintals of sweets, which lets in premium varieties made of milk and dry fruits. The primary aims of the administration are to org anise Milk Producers Cooperative Societies and to render a compensable market to the Milk Producers’ for their surplus milk at their door steps and to assure availability of milk and milk productions in decent quantity and fair prices to the Urban milk users.
