Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) is the prime State Open University in the country. Netaji Subhas Open University Study Centre was launched through West Bengal Act (XIX) of 1997 and accredited through U.G.C. the university is located at Woodburn Park in Kolkata city in West Bengal state in India. At present the NSOU works from its 6 campuses. At the commencing of each session, the NSOU Study Centres call for the scholars for an induction meeting where they are familiarized with the objectives, aims & actions of the university & the methodology of Distance Education. The Netaji Subhas Open University Study Centre also organizes containing of examination in accordance with the schedules fixed through NSOU from time to time.
