National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut was launched in the year 1961 by the Government for giving technical education in the state of Kerala. National Institute of Technology Calicut began as Regional Engineering College, Calicut (CREC) and was associated with the Kerala University till the establishment of the Calicut University in 1963.Located at Kozhikode (Calicut) in Kerala, NITC is a federally financed technical university founded by an Act of the Indian Parliament. The Institute has been sanctioned by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
