The Directorate of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme is the national level Technical Nodal office equipt on Technical Experts in the area of Public Health, Entomology, Toxicology and parasitology aspects of malaria. National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme is the central nodal agency for the prevention and control of vector borne diseases i.e. Malaria, Dengue, Lymphatic Filariasis, Kala-azar, Japanese Encephalitis and Chikungunya in India.

NVBDCP is one of the Technical Departments of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India. The Government of India shall allow for funds to State Health Societies or the State Vector Borne Disease Control Societies by its budgetary resources.
