The School of Visual Arts (SVA was launched in 1947 by co-founders Silas H. Rhodes and Burne Hogarth as the Cartoonists and Illustrators School and was renamed in 1956.
It is a proprietorship art school situated in Manhattan, New York City, and is widely regarded to be one of the conducting art schools in the United States. It provided its first degrees in 1972. SVA is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD), a consortium of 36 conducting art schools in the United States.

The date of Commencement for the Class of 2010 is Friday, May 14th. The ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m.Commencement will be held at Radio City Music Hall, 1260 Avenue of the Americas between West 50th and 51st Streets, New York, NY, 10020.The ceremony for both Graduate, and Undergraduate candidates should last about three hours.
Graduate and Undergraduate students who have finished all of the degree requirements eligible to participate in the ceremony.
