The Utkal University, launched in the year 1943, is the seventeenth most previous University in India and the first of Orissa state. On the 27th Nov. 1943, the Utkal University began working at Ravenshaw College (now University), Cuttack. The University transferred to its present campus spread over 400 acres of land at Vanivihar in Bhubaneswar in 1962. Utkal University is acknowledged by the UGC. The Utkal University is NAAC licensed since 2004 with B++ status with a score little over 80%. It is a member of the Indian Association of Universities and Commonwealth Association of Universities.
