Running through the cold weather can help rock those winter blues, change your energy level, and guarantee that you’ll be in better shape once bathing suit season happens. If the wind is strong, it penetrates your clothes and removes the insulating layer of warm air around you. Cold weather doesn’t mean that you have to banish yourself to the treadmill all winter long. Cold is relative. Within reason, at moderate temperatures, what is cold for one person may not be cold for another Layering will go long ways in helping you stay alter.

Up to 25% or more of your body cool may be lost from your head, so wearing a hat is important. The smooth road surface can result in falls and injuries. Wear wide, dry socks. In many cases polypropylene or acrylic can “wick” moisture away and are helpful. A ski cap or ski mask can be used on your head, and don’t forget gloves. Some runners use the Bill Rogers recommended painters gloves for relatively mild weather.
