Sri Ramasamy Memorial University is more popularly famous as SRM University. It is a private university with campuses at Chennai, Modinagar (Ghaziabad) and Trichy. SRM University is sanctioned by the University Grants Commission and awarded with ISO 9001:2000 certifications. It has been accredited with the A+ rating by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has also been awarded by Best ISTE Chapter Award in the whole region. SRM University has evolved from SRM Engineering College that was constituted in the year 1985. In 2003-04 it acquired the position of a deemed University and named as SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Eventually it was christened SRM University. Finally in the year 2006 it achieved the status of a full-fledged university, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.
