Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Trichy
The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) came into existence on June 1, 1971. However, it had its genesis from organization of an agricultural school at Saidapet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in 1868 and was later resettled at Coimbatore. It is the worlds biggest and the top most agricultural university. In 1920, TNAU was attached with Madras University. TNAU accepted full duties of agricultural teaching and research and backed up the State Agricultural Department by delivering experiment products. Until 1946, the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore, was the only institute for agricultural teaching in South India.
