Tezpur University was founded by an Act of Parliament in 1994. The objects of this Central University as imagined in the statutes are that it shall endeavor to provide employment oriented and interdisciplinary courses to meet the regional to national ambitions and the development of the state of Assam and also provide courses and encourage research in fields which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in the emerging fields in Science and Technology
