Thapar University, (a private university) antecedently acknowledged as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (before 2007)- was launched in 1956 by Karam Chand Thapar of the Thapar Group of companies. Thapar University provides courses at the bachelors, masters and Ph. D., level in several disciplines of engineering and technology. It located in the city of Patiala in Punjab, it is one of north India’s prime institutes of engineering and technology. Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology as 9th overall between the top most engineering institutes in the Country and 4th in North India.In a survey guided by DataQuest, it was graded amongst the top 15 engineering schools in India.

Admissions to Ph.D program shall be made on the basis of interview to be conducted by Thapar University on July 20, 2010
